Slips and trips

 

Staff and public may suffer serious, possibly fatal, injuries if they fall from or on stairs, or suffer injuries such as sprains and fractures if they slip on spillages, trip over objects etc.

 

We carryout general good housekeeping. All areas are well lit including stairs, stairs have hand railings, and all flooring is firmly secured. There are no trailing leads or cables. Staff keep work areas clear, e.g. no boxes left in walkways, deliveries are stored immediately, offices are cleaned every evening.

 

Goalposts

 

Anyone using the pitch.

 

Our Goalposts are checked on a daily basis to make sure they are secured in line with FA and BSI Guidelines.

 

We Follow FA and BSI guidelines when purchasing goals and so not use goals with metal cup hooks.

General pitch condition (uneven ground, presence of holes, presence of foreign objects)

Anyone using the pitch.

 

Staff regularly check each pitch; checks are carried out before each event is held for any potential hazards. 

Make sure adequate provision is made for participants to dispose safely of litter/foreign objects.

 

Footwear (inappropriate footwear)

 

Anyone using the pitch/ staff cleaning and preparing the pitch for customer use.

No footwear with metal studs or blades allowed. Staff is informed about this prior to starting employment at Halifax Indoor Football Centre Ltd.

 

Regular reminders for staff and a footwear check.

Emergency procedures – evacuation in case of fire or other significant incident

Anyone in the building may suffer serious, possibly fatal, injuries from smoke inhalation/ burns.

 

Escape routes are well signed and kept clear at all times. Evacuation plans are tested from time to time and updated as necessary.

Regular reminders/training for staff about emergency procedures/ what action to be taken.

Electrical equipment and services

 

Anyone in the building including staff and customers.

All electrical equipment is installed, modified and repaired by a professional electrician. Staff know how to safely turn the electricity off in an emergency. There is clear access to the electricity fuse box.All electrical wiring is out of the way to avoid trips.

 

Ensure all electrical equipment is checked by an electrician.

Make sure that all starters know where the fuse box is and how to safely turn off electricity in an emergency.

 

Violence

 

Staff and customers risk serious injury if assaulted or if caught up in fighting.

Staff trained to spot potential troublemakers, defuse tense situations etc.

Referees/ team captains of leagues and camps are responsible for managing/handling their players behaviours.

Perpetrators causing serious injury/violence may not be allowed to use the facility again. 

 

Signage around the facility which clearly states that violence is not tolerated and may result in individuals/groups not being able to use the facility again.

Handling hot drinks

Staff / customer risk injury such as burns when handling hot drinks.

Staff are shown how to use the hot drink machines, and made aware that they must handle these with care.

Hot drink cups clearly state that they are hot therefore they must be handled with caution. In the case of a minor injury staff are aware of the location of the fist aid box and the first aider.
